SunRidge MS FFA- State Champion Horse Evaluation Team

This past Saturday, February 4, the Florida FFA State Middle School Horse Evaluation Career Development Event (CDE) was held in Gainesville, Florida.  The Horse Evaluation Career Development Event is designed to stimulate the study of, and interest in, equine science selection while providing recognition for those who have demonstrated skill and competency in this area.  Middle school FFA teams traveled from all across the state to compete for top state honors and I am very excited to announce that from a field of 38 middle school teams, SunRidge MS FFA won 1stplace!
 
SunRidge MS FFA is the 2017 State Champion!  To make this even more exciting, this Agriscience/FFA program is only in its 4th year and this is their very first state championship.  It requires enormous teaching and learning to earn this honor, so we say a BIG congratulations SunRidge MS FFA Horse Evaluation Team and Ms. Katrina Alford, FFA Advisor, on earning this fantastic accomplishment.  We know this is the beginning of many more student learning successes yet to come.
 
By earning this top CDE state honor, SunRidge MS FFA will be recognized and awarded their team trophies on stage at the Florida FFA State Convention this June.




Please join me in congratulations our District winning Forestry Teams!! Our SunRidge FFA Teams competed in the District 7 FFA Forestry Career Development Events (CDE) and we placed 1st and 3rd!!!

1st Place- will be competing in Perry FL November 9th and 10th for the State Competition!!

Important Notice!!

It is mandatory that your child be signed up for Boys and Girls Club in order to attend any after school FFA events. B & G is free and you can sign up at http://www.bgcafterschoolzone.org/. Any student who is not registered will not be allowed to stay after school for an FFA event. As soon as a student is registered they will be allowed to attend FFA events again. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.  


For upcoming events please visit our chapter website at SunRidgeFFA.theaet.com. This will provide all meetings and practices for the rest of the month.

The National FFA Organization is inter-curricular with the Agriscience program, therefore only students in the Agriscience class may join the FFA.  After paying dues, students are welcome to join our regularly scheduled chapter meetings, attend FFA events and compete in Career Development Events (CDEs). They may also have the opportunity to show animals at the Central Florida County Fair.

To join the FFA:


Students must be enrolled in an Ag class and pay their FFA dues which are $20. Cash or checks are accepted and checks may be made payable to “SunRidge MS”.
