SRMS Families- it is FUNDRAISER time!  Our "OPT OUT" fundraiser is off to a great start.  The PTSO needs your help so we can assist the Media Center with its furniture needs.  You do not have to sell anything to help us, but perhaps ask your favorite aunt and uncle, grandparents, relatives and friends to lend a hand. Students may be eligible to win a gift card while helping us achieve our $10,000 goal for this year!!!! All donations are tax deductible and listed for your convenience on SchoolPay under the non-profit tab.

For each level donation received, the student will be entered into a drawing to win a gift card.  EXAMPLE: If a $50 donation is received, the student will be entered in the $50 GC raffle, the same with the $40 and $30 GC raffle.  If multiple donations are received, the student will be eligible to receive multiple raffle entries. If $100 is donated, then the student will receive 2 - $50 GC raffle entries. A student can only win once, but the more donations received, the more chances the student has to win.

Did you know that many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees? Please contact your employer for specific guidelines.

A Message from Principal McHale

Eagle Families,

We are off to a great start for the second nine weeks.  Thank you to all who joined us for Disability Awareness Day last Tuesday by wearing blue!

What’s Happening next week at SRMS?

Tuesday, October 19- Report cards and FSA Scores going home with students. Picture re-take day.

Wednesday, October 20- Unity Day. Let’s unite against bullying by wearing orange.

Thursday, October 21- Pride Day- wear the colors of the rainbow as we honor inclusivity and pride for LGBTQ awareness.  Mental Health Day 2 lesson.  Adjusted Bell schedule. Opening Night for fall play- Jolly Roger and the Pirate Queen.

Friday, October 22- Pink Out- wear pink to honor Breast Cancer Awareness Day.

This Tuesday the FSA parent copy of scores will be sent home with students.  If your child took a state test here at SRMS we have their score report.  If your child took the test at another school we may not have received them yet.  A few of the elementary schools have not sent them to us.  As soon as we get the parent copy we will sort and get them to you.  Last years 8th graders' scores have been sent to WOHS, Windermere and Horizon High.  If your current 9th grader attends a different HS, we have them here and they can be picked up in the front office.

Don’t miss our first Theatre production of the 21-22 school year- Jolly Roger and the Pirate Queen will be showing at SRMS October 21st-23rdJolly Roger (1) (002).jpg

Picture Re-take day is this Tuesday.  Who can get a retake:

1. New students to SRMS since August 30th

2.  Absent students on August 30th

3.   Students who bought pictures and want retakes – MUST BRING PACKET

4.   Students who want a retake – must have a letter from a parent – it will be helpful in the letter to state why the retake (examples: got braces off, hair was in their face, etc)

Students will be called down during scheduled times throughout the day.  For retakes they must have the packet or letter to be released from their class.  Any questions please email robin.nelms@ocps.net

Stay tuned to learn when the first SAC (School Advisory Council) meeting of the year will be held.  Usually our meetings are held in the SRMS Media Center.  New members are invited to join the SAC...teachers, staff, parents, and community members. All parents are always welcome to SAC Meetings, but will need to be voted on to be a voting member of the School Advisory Council.  This is a fabulous way to stay abreast of what is going on at SunRidge Middle School and to have a voice in continuing the success.
SAC meets monthly on the first Tuesday of the month @ 4:30PM.
